Review: The Tweeddale Blend 12.

Continuing blended whisky month we have day 5 of the 12 blends comptetiton and the turn of @dvdbloke. He has chosen the fantastic Tweedale Blend 12 year old.

I did OK today. I guessed the Tweeddale blend (but didn’t even know they had a 10 and a 12 year old). A lucky guess only. I’ve never tasted it before.

Here are the dramstats:

  • ABV 46%
  • Price £37

Nose: Hint of furniture polish, apple pie, vanilla ice cream with a slight vegetal note after time in the glass and some coca cola.

Palate: Fresh fruit J-bomb right in the face! Lots of sweet apple, toffee and vanilla.

Finish: A wave of warm spices and pepper, apple pie with whipped cream and that touch of pledge furniture polish from the nose. A whiff of medicinal peat.

Verdict: Lovely, creamy and with a touch of intrigue! I think this is sufficiently complex and interesting to justify the price. Good choice!
