I’m on a good run at the moment of advent calendar whiskies I’ve never tried. That run continued today with Strathmill 12 year old Flora and Fauna.
Here are the dramstats:
- ABV 43%
- Price ~£40
- Age 12 years
Nose: Icing sugar, sherbet lemon, quite floral, vanilla and, after 20 minutes in the glass, butterscotch.
Palate: Butterscotch, pepper and vanilla
Finish: A peppery burst followed by vanilla, then Mr whippy ice cream. Yum!
Verdict: After my sorry experience with the Mortlach Flora and Fauna, I wasn’t expecting too much from this. But actually I really enjoyed it. I will look out for Strathmill in the future.
